Brief Summary
Plants are considered a critical resource because of many ways they support life on earth, because of the many ways plants help the environment, their importance shouldn't be forgotten. Though the process of photosynthesis, plants release oxygen back into the atmosphere. What you may have not known is that plants from the ocean are what provide most of the air we breathe. Green terrestrial plants make up the rest of atmospheric oxygen that is essential for living and survival of living organisms.
It is important to realize the important role plants play to ease the effects of climate change. Since plants are considered primary producers, they play an important role in feeding earths wildlife and humans.
About 10% of the moisture in the atmosphere is released by plants through the process of transpiration, the process of losing water through surface or skin of a body or a plant. Plants uptake water through their roots and release water vapor through small pores on the underside of their leaves. Through this process of transpiration plants also help circulate water from the soil back into the atmosphere. Plants also stabilize bodies of water such as rivers, lakes etc.
Despite the many benefits that plants provide, one of the environmental issues we face is environmental degradation". Earth’s ecosystems are subject to deforestation, development and resource extraction. Because of the many ways plants help humans and the environment, and ecosystems, plants need to be protected.
Discussion-
Basically this article is talking about how much plants help us and other living organisms everyday. The oxygen they provide, the habitat they create by plant diversity, They are our main source of food, despite these benefits plants provide us they are, we face environmental degradation, and we are the cause of that. I feel this article is important, yes most of the things said in this article i knew but things like this bring recognition to the topic. I would hope humans can start living for the better and make changes to their life style where we are not killing plants.
